Welcome to IRENE, the family-owned artisanal bakery that's causing a stir in the heart of Camberwell.
Our bakery first opened its doors in the summer of 2021, and we've been serving up fresh, delicious bread, cakes, viennoiseries, and sandwiches ever since. You might be surprised to learn that our bakery used to be a flower shop, but we've transformed it into a full-cycle bakery and coffee shop that still retains the charming ambiance of the old building.
At IRENE, we're all about quality and consistency. Our team of passionate bakers works tirelessly to ensure that every bite of our freshly baked goodies is perfection. We specialise in 100% sourdough bread, traditional baguettes, fine viennoseries and other bits that you’d expect from an artisanal bakery like ours.
The family behind IRENE hails from Kazakhstan, and we've named our bakery after the owner's mother to honour her incredible sense of hospitality and warmth. Our team is truly international, and we draw inspiration from a variety of cultures and baking techniques. We don't stick to one style in particular; instead, we strive to blend the best of all worlds to create that perfect balance and quality.
And don't even get us started on the coffee. We proudly serve Gentlemen Baristas coffee because it’s so balanced and delicious. We've been working with them from the very beginning, and our guests can't get enough of it!
After a year of successfully operating in Camberwell, we decided to expand our deliciousness to the more central Marylebone area. Our small coffee shop there is the perfect spot to grab a freshly-baked pastry and a cup of coffee. We deliver our bread and other baked goods there every morning to ensure maximum freshness and serve Gentlemen Baristas coffee just like at our main location. Both of our locations have been met with such a warm welcome from the local community that we are beyond grateful. We're proud to say that most of our guests visit us almost every day, and it feels like we've built a true IRENE community. And now, we're thrilled to join the bustling Brixton Village! We can't wait to serve up our delicious baked goods to the wonderful people of Brixton and build new relationships with our customers.
